The Hausa Community in Rivers State has said that if the fine for defaulters of open grazing law in the state is too much, they would “park and go.”
Chairman of the Community, Alhaji Musa Saidu, disclosed this during a Public hearing on the bill for a Law to provide for the Regulation of Livestock Breeding, Rearing, and Marketing openly in the state.
The public hearing was organized by the House of Assembly joint committee on Agriculture and Environment, in Port Harcourt on Friday.
“…fine, fine, fine,…,if the fine is too much, we will just park and go,” he said.
He also said if the government insists that cattles should be transported by car to the slaughter, the price of meat will increase.
“f they say we should transport our cattle by car to the slaughter, then the price of meat will increase… because we will add the cost of transportation to the meat’…..Hausa butchers during public hearing today,” he added.
