The Presidency has said that the current administration has never clamped down on the media, and will never do such, as been rumored in some quarters.
Presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina disclosed this in a TV interview, today.
He said the Buhari-led administration, will never tamper with the independence of the media and freedom of the press, no matter what.
“This government has never clamped down on the media, it has never done, and will never do.. This government will never tamper with the independence of the media, and freedom of the press. If any columnist is alleging that, it is within his right…,” he said.
Adesina also denied rumors making the rounds that the government had shut down an online news platform, Peoples Gazette.
“Peoples gazette is a paper that lies every day. It has lied against me and has lied against several people. So why should we bother ourselves against a platform that’s full of lies,” he added.
