THE CONSENSUS DAMAGE APC HAS DONE TO NIGERIA’S DEMOCRACY

The Consensus Shit

2023 may produce the worst set of leadership this country has ever had “IF” the “CONSENSUS DAMAGE” the APC has done to our electoral system recently is not halted immediately.

All of a sudden, when we thought that the little gain we made through the reviewed electoral act by INEC signed into law was going to bring us a little electoral progress as a nation, the ruling party (APC) came up with an anti-democratic practice known as consensus, where party members are deprived the opportunity of choosing the party leadership, and those who’ll fly their party flag in elections.

And now, all the parties in Nigeria are adopting this method, where so-called party stalwarts—very few of them, will just sit down and write names of their praise singers and loyalist, publish the names as the consensus candidates, not necessarily because they are qualified, popular or the best, but because it serves their own selfish purposes.

This action if allowed to fester will quickly become a political norm, and our electoral system will nosedive again after we thought we were making progress. And of course we know, how evil deeds do circulate with ease yet very difficult to do away with. Therefore, this “CONSENSUS SHIT” must never be allowed. It must be tamed now before it germinates and sprout then grows to maturity.

The INEC must also look closely, and un-reluctantly wheel the sledge hammer to serve as a deterrent, otherwise we dash the hopes of ever having a progressive and acceptable electoral system.

Since after the APC convention on the 26th of March 2022, all we hear now is consensus & consensus, PDP has even taken it to a whole new level, although, they have always been the grandmaster of this impunity, the small pretence they were making that they are born-again has been thrown to the wind, since after the APC abracadabra at the eagle square in Abuja a forth night ago.

One notorious NASS member from my senatorial district whose only job is to buy gun for cultist to shoot and kill people, has just hoodwinked everyone again at gunpoint and made himself a consensus candidate of his party from what I’m hearing through my famous left ear.

Although many will argue that it is an internal party affair, sadly, such evil internal affair affects the external affairs of the general society. It is only simpletons and politically and socially unconscious individuals in a system that won’t be enraged when such political skewness is embraced as a standard.

May we not get to Canaan, and even see the promised land and yet not enter into it, NEVER. we must kill consensus before consensus kills our nascent democracy.

I love all the actors except one, but I hate all their nonsense actions.
