Governor Sim Fubara says his visit to the Rivers House of Assembly Quarters was to assess the condition of the structures for a possible rehabilitation work to restore its status.
The governor said this when he visited the assembly quarters on Thursday.
“Is the Assembly quarters not part of my property? Is there anything wrong in going to check how things are going on there?
“You are aware of the developments. We have a new speaker, and I went there to see for my myself how things are. There might be a few things I might want to do there for the good of our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, few hours after the governor left, factional speaker of the assembly, Martin Amaewhule stormed the area with members loyal to him, accusing the governor of trying to demolish the complex.
