Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has emerged as the best-selling female African artist, according to new chart data.
Tems, who began her music career in 2018, has surpassed African music icons including Angelique Kidjo, Tiwa Savage, and Yemi Alade in global sales. The Grammy-winning artist has reportedly sold over 25 million certified units worldwide.
Her major certifications include 5x Platinum for “Essence” in the United States (5 million units), 3x Platinum for “Wait For U” (3 million units), 2x Platinum for “Free Mind” (2 million units), and Platinum for “Higher” (1 million units).
