The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku has handed over a Teacher in Community Secondary School, Ogbogoro accused of collecting illegal levies from students writing their SSCE, to the state Senior Secondary Schools Board for investigation.
The commissioner who made this known in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, Today, cautioned schools against collecting illegal levies from students and indulging in exam malpractice.
He said the accused teacher will be investigated for the crime as the state government would go tough on anyone found wanting.
He furthermore expressed dissatisfaction with the level of compliance with COVID-19 protocols by schools in the state, while urging them to do more.
