Chairman of the National union of Road Traansport workers in Rivers State. Mr, Eliaza Monday has accused some Local Government Councils of extorting tranport workers.
Eliaza disclosed this during a meeting with the leadership of the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service in Port Harcourt on Friday.
According to him, after paying tax to the state government, they are still meant to pay to local government councils, which amounts to double taxation.
He revealed that they are being victimized by some chairmen over their refusal to allow them sell tickets to members of the union.
Mr Monday called on the state government to call the Chairmen to order.
