The Rivers State Internal Revenue Services, RIRS, says it has not approved or appointed any consultant to collect tax on its behalf.
The board in a statement, warned the business community and members of the public to be aware of the antics of some criminally minded persons bent on defrauding them.
The board, advised members of the business community to always seek clarification from the office of the chairman when in doubt.
It urged tax payers to visit its head office, Revenue House Rainbow Town in Port Harcourt, and call on 09087909934 for further inquiries.
The agency also warned perpetrators to desist from such fraudulent act, or face severe consequences when caught.
