A diesel-laden tanker on Tuesday crashed at the Nkpolu Junction along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, triggering panic as its engine caught fire shortly after the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the driver immediately deployed fire extinguishers in a desperate effort to prevent the flames from spreading to the diesel tank, raising fears of a possible explosion.
The incident caused widespread panic, forcing residents and motorists in the area to flee for safety. As of the time of filing this report, emergency responders, including the fire service, had yet to arrive at the scene.
