The Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, has said Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central Senatorial District cannot resume legislative duties until the Court of Appeal rules on her suspension.
In a letter addressed to the senator and dated September 4, 2025, the Clerk acknowledged receiving her notification to return to plenary following the expiration of her six-month suspension. Akpoti-Uduaghan had argued that the suspension, which began on March 6, 2025, lapsed on September 4.
However, Danzaria clarified that the matter remains sub judice, as the suspension is still under judicial consideration. He stressed that no administrative steps could be taken to facilitate her resumption until the Senate formally reviews the case in line with the court’s decision.
The Clerk assured the senator that she would be informed of the Senate’s position once the legal process is concluded.
