The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspected internet fraudster linked to the killing of one of its operatives during an operation in Anambra State.
The incident occurred on Friday when the suspect allegedly opened fire on EFCC operatives, resulting in the death of one officer and injuries to another.
An EFCC official, speaking to The Cable, confirmed that the deceased officer was laid to rest in Sokoto on Saturday. The suspect is currently being held at the EFCC’s zonal headquarters in Enugu State.
Describing the attack as “very unfortunate,” the official highlighted the growing risks associated with combating internet fraud in the country.
