Tension has heightened in Omademe community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, following an attack on a local farmer by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Sunday morning.
Residents say the incident is the latest in a string of violent confrontations and repeated destruction of farmlands allegedly perpetrated by herders in the area. The attack has sparked outrage and renewed fears among villagers who rely heavily on farming for their livelihood.
Community leaders are urging security agencies and the state government to intervene urgently to prevent further violence and protect residents from what they describe as an escalating threat to lives and property.
