The Emohua Local Government Secretariat was on Monday occupied by suspected staff of the council in protest over unpaid wages.
The aggrieved workers, who stormed the secretariat ahead of the planned state-wide strike, alleged that the council chairman, Sir Chidi Lloyd, had withheld their August salaries.
The protesting staff vowed to remain at the premises until their demands were met, insisting that the non-payment of salaries was unjust and unacceptable.
As of the time of filing this report, the council chairman was yet to react to the development.
