The Supreme Court has removed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, ruling that his recognition by the Court of Appeal was beyond judicial jurisdiction.
In a unanimous verdict, the apex court stated that disputes over party leadership are internal matters and not subject to judicial intervention. The court upheld an appeal filed by Senator Esther Usman and another, declaring it meritorious. It also noted that Abure’s tenure had already expired.
As a result, the court dismissed a cross-appeal filed by Abure’s faction, affirming the leadership change within the party.
