…Conferred with ‘Mene Suanu 1’ of Ogoni Land
Former representative of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has called on Nigerians to support the traditional rulers in the process of peace building in Nigeria.
Abe made the call at an event organised to mark the 83rd Birthday Celebration of King Godwin Gininwa in Korokoro Community in Tai Local Government Area in Rivers State.
The event which coincided with the 61st Anniversary of Nigeria had dignitaries from all walks of life grace the occasion.
The Senator, who was represented by the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus in Gokana Local Government Area, Godwin Bazari said, traditional rulers have a key role to play in building peace in their domain.
Abe said: “Peace is non-negotiable and a panacea for development. No society develops in an atmosphere of chaos and violence. Neither can any society make meaningful progress without peace.
“Let us as a people think peace, talk peace, walk in peace and we shall live in peace”.
He appealed to the youths of Ogoni to borrow a leaf from the unassuming leadership qualities of King Gininwa who he described as an ambassador of peace.
Abe congratulated the King on his birthday and prayed that God Almighty will keep him in good health and sound mind.
In his remarks, the celebrant, Gbenemene of Tai Kingdom and President, Supreme Council of Ogoni Traditional Rulers, King Godwin Gininwa advised the youths to abstain from crime and engaged in meaningful ventures that will better their lots.
He also urged Ogoni politicians to unite and work to achieve a common goal that will benefit the people and see them speak in one voice devoid of Party affiliations.
