A support staff of an oil company in Umuike, Ikwerre Local Government Area has allegedly been found dead by the road side around the community. The young man who just finished his National Youth Service Programme was reportedly killed by a group of armed robbers.
The family who confirmed the incident to journalists said they were alerted by eye witnesses of the development this morning. The family said according to the eye witnesses, the young man ran into a group of armed robbers who shot him for recognizing one of the members of the group. The incident allegedly happened at about 8:00 PM yesterday, they noted.
The bereaved family stated that they last saw their son yesterday evening, when he left the house to go withdraw money from an ATM machine. They expressed shock over the incident stating that it is unbearable.
They called on the Police to investigate the matter and ensure the killers are brought to book.
