Head coach of Nigeria’s senior national team, Eric Chelle, is reportedly pushing for a revised contract that would significantly increase his monthly earnings.
Chelle, who currently earns about $50,000 per month from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is believed to be seeking a new deal valued at up to $130,000 monthly. The Malian tactician recently changed his representatives and has also been linked with a possible move to Olympique de Marseille.
According to sources, the proposed $130,000 package is intended to cover the salaries of Chelle’s entire technical crew and his personal assistant, countering earlier reports that suggested he was demanding $100,000 solely as personal pay.
Beyond the salary review, Chelle is also said to have outlined several conditions tied to his continued stay. These reportedly include the provision of a private SUV with chauffeur and security, accommodation in a secure environment with uninterrupted power supply, and a fully furnished office equipped with a projector and internet access.
Other requests allegedly include flight tickets for his wife and two children — business class for himself and his spouse, and economy class for the children — as well as GPS services and access to appropriate training equipment in line with his technical requirements.
In addition, Chelle is believed to be seeking greater authority over football matters, including the freedom to select international friendly matches, plan camping programmes, and initiate youth development initiatives.
He is also reportedly requesting approval to travel abroad to monitor Nigerian players and to attend domestic league matches to scout talents for integration into the senior national team and youth sides, including the U-23, U-20 and U-17 teams.
A key part of his demands, sources say, is a guarantee of non-interference in team selection and player invitations.
The NFF has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported contract discussions.
