The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has called on Governor, Sim Fubara to put on his thinking cap and come up with measures to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal on Rivers people.
Spokesperson of the party, Darlington Nwauju who made this known in a statement on Friday, said there can be no better time to focus on investing in mass transportation to save Rivers people.
According to him, governance is not a chieftaincy title but a position to better the lives of the people.
His statement reads,
Governance is not a chieftaincy ceremony. The Rivers State Governor must put on his thinking cap, roll up his sleeves and come up with viable counterbalancing and concomitant measures to mitigate the impact of this subsidy removal on our people.
“And, there can be no better time to focus on investing massively in mass transportation infrastructure, to save Rivers people than now.
“It is very obvious that the economic impact occasioned by the spiraling cost of transportation is better imagined.
“Again, investing in power infrastructure will be key to saving local businesses from cutting down on their workforce, due to the high energy cost
