The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that despite calling off the strike, reopening of schools lies within the Senate of individual universities and the Federal Government. This according to the association is owing to COVID-19.
President of the Union, Biodun Ogunyemi made the announcement after a meeting with the federal government delegation yesterday.
The Federal government and ASUU have been holding series of meeting which ended in deadlock, until recently when an agreement was reached.
Ogunyemi noted that the union would not fail to embark on another industrial action without notice, if the government fails to meet its obligations.
In addition, he commended students and their parents for their understanding and support during the nine-month old strike.
