President, Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the families of those that lost their lives in a stampede in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Saturday.

31 persons lost their lives in the stampede while struggling to receive free items from a religious organization.

Buhari, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba, expressed his condolences to the Government of Rivers State and those affected.

He also directed that efforts be made to provide relief materials to those injured in the incident.

“All efforts should be made to provide relief to those injured in the unfortunate incident,” and that disaster and relief agencies of the Federal Government should maintain constant contact with the Rivers State government to ensure that good care is taken of the relief efforts,” he said.
