Controversial Nigerian rapper, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has filed a N3 billion counter-suit against the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), following the agency’s declaration of him as wanted.
The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 9, 2025, seeks N1 billion in general damages and N2 billion in punitive damages. Okoye is also requesting a perpetual injunction restraining NAPTIP from acting on its June 27 “wanted” notice against him.
NAPTIP had declared the rapper wanted after he failed to respond to an invitation regarding allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. The case stems from a video posted on Okoye’s Instagram page, in which he allegedly claimed to have had sexual relations with a minor in a hotel.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency was said to have referred the case to NAPTIP after the video sparked widespread public outrage.
