Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has dismissed allegations by the Nigerian Bar Association that he held a press conference at the Federal High Court in Abuja, maintaining that he merely answered questions from journalists.
The NBA, in a statement issued Wednesday and signed by its President, Afam Osigwe (SAN), criticised Sowore’s actions, describing them as a breach of courtroom decorum after he was seen speaking with journalists within the court premises.
According to the association, the conduct diminished the dignity of the court and fell short of expected standards during judicial proceedings.
In his response, Sowore faulted the NBA’s stance, calling it “another sad day for democracy in Nigeria,” and accused the body of distorting the facts surrounding the incident.
