Ace comedian, KO-Baba popularly known as the “Mayor of Pitakwa” has said that no one is safe with the soot in Port Harcourt, as air does not discriminate.
The outspoken comedian in a statement yesterday, said it is disheartening that people can hardly breathe well, or even put on white shirts anymore.
He noted that the plaque has become unbearable, adding that an attempt to curb this menace must be made.
His statement reads,
The Mayor’s Thoughts
Thoughts abound my mind and anxiety is gradually settling in for soon I shall become Mayor Of Nothing as a result of the chaotic offspring of illegal refining in my city.
This illegal refining as suspected has birthed a plague called “Black Soot “.
This persistent black soot which began to be observed in the last quarter of 2016 has become an environmental issue for residents in my city and its effects range from acute bronchitis, aggravated asthma, heart attacks to the deadly cancer of the lungs.
No one is safe as air doesn’t discriminate. It bears no respect for me as Mayor let alone my citizens.
One can no longer walk barefoot
One can no longer respite safely
One can no longer comfortably wear white tees or shirts in my city.
This plague has become unbearable.
An attempt to curb this threat to life must be made.
A solution is all we plead for…
Stop Illegal Refining!
Stop The Black Soot!
I am the Mayor Of Pitakwa and the above are my thoughts
