The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has given details of the tragic robbery incident that claimed the life of Arise Television reporter, Sommie Maduagwu.
Speaking in an interview on Arise TV, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, explained that armed men invaded Maduagwu’s residence on the fateful day. According to him, the assailants first shot the security guard on duty, prompting Maduagwu to jump from the building out of fear.
“When our operatives arrived at the scene, they found her body and immediately rushed her to the hospital. The doctor carried out checks but sadly confirmed her dead,” the Police Commissioner said.
He assured that investigations are ongoing and that perpetrators of the crime will be brought to book.
Maduagwu, a correspondent with Arise Television, reportedly died in the aftermath of the robbery attack. Her death has since sparked an outpouring of grief, with President Bola Tinubu, several state governors, political leaders, colleagues, and friends taking to social media to mourn her passing.
