The Rivers State government has promised to support the Sokoto State Government with the sum of Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m), to help rebuild it’s central market that was gutted by fire on Tuesday.

Governor Nyesom Wike made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor of the state, Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday.

Wike who stated that he was devastated by the incident, said part of the money was to support victims of the inferno.

“We have come here to commiserate and sympathise with our brother, our friend and the good people of Sokoto State on what had happened to one of the biggest market in this country, the Sokoto central market.

“When I got the information last night, I was touched and I said as brothers, what affects you affects us. What affects Sokoto State affects Rivers State,” he said.

He thanked God that no life was lost, stating that there is nothing anyone can equate with life.
