The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed that suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara was accompanied by two All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in a recent visit, but stated he would not confront Fubara due to his own desire for peace.
Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike described the political turmoil in Rivers State as “self-inflicted,” alleging that Fubara had been misled by advisers who urged him to provoke conflict. He said despite warning Fubara against actions that could destabilize the state, he was wrongly portrayed as attempting to control the state’s resources.
The minister emphasized the importance of resolving the ongoing tensions, warning that if the underlying issues remain unaddressed, the crisis would persist even if a state of emergency is lifted.
