PORT HARCOURT – At least six people are feared dead following a fatal car crash late Monday night near the Unity Filling Station in the Eliozu area of Port Harcourt.

According to eyewitness accounts, a vehicle traveling at high speed lost control, struck multiple electric poles, and rammed into a walkway, killing several pedestrians on the spot.

The occupants of the car, believed to be young men, reportedly fled the scene after the crash. They are suspected to be under the influence of drugs and possibly linked to internet fraud activities, commonly referred to as “Yahoo boys.”

Emergency responders from the Rumuokoro Police Division evacuated the bodies around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or confirm the identities of the victims.
