Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo local government area of Rivers State, and DG of the Simpliied Movement Worldwide has dissociated the group from the planned nationwide protest.
Bipi disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said, “The Director General of the Simplified Movement Worldwide Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, DSSRS, JP wishes to strongly dissociates the group from the planned nationwide protest over hunger and economic hardship in the Country.
While we recognize that the reason for the protest is justified, it is our view that the protest is unnecessary at this critical time of our journey to nationhood.
“Nigeria is known for witnessing a disturbing trend of peaceful protests being hijacked by miscreants, who exploit it to wreak havoc on innocent people, resulting in widespread destruction of lives and property. This planned protest will not be an exemption.
“We are still recovering from the devastation wrecked on the Nation’s fragile economy by the “End SARS Protest of 2020”.
“Nigeria is not an isolated case in continental Africa and beyond where the citizenry are affected by hunger and economic hardship.
“This twin monster militating against human existence are also plaguing different countries of the world without their citizens taking to the street to protest and cause civil unrest.
We therefore appeal to our fellow compatriots to have a rethink and jettison the nationwide protest in the interest of the sustenance of our hard earned democracy.
Let us give President Bola Tinubu more time to implement his range of economic blueprints which aims at fixing the Nation’s economy and alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians.
“The Simplified Movement is pleased with the approach being adopted by Mr. President in addressing the present challenges confronting the Nation.
We also reiterate our earlier call on all Rivers people especially the Youths not to take part in the planned nationwide hunger protest while also calling on the law enforcement agencies to be on maximum alert against attempt by anyone or group to cause a breach of the existing peace in the State under the guise of protest.
