Senator Seriake Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West Senatorial District, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the newly registered Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dickson made the announcement on Thursday during a press briefing at his residence in Abuja, stating that the once-dominant opposition party had declined significantly over time.
The former governor of Bayelsa State expressed disappointment over the current state of the PDP, saying the party that once inspired hope and enthusiasm among his supporters had deteriorated badly.
According to him, the situation within the party has become so severe that it now resembles a critically ill patient.
“The PDP is sick and presently in the ICU,” he said.
