Former Bayelsa State Governor and current senator, Seriake Dickson, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis in Rivers State, describing it as dangerous for democracy.
Speaking on Wednesday, Dickson said the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the appointment of a sole administrator would not stand, as such actions require Senate approval.
According to him, seventy members of the Senate must approve the president’s decision, and that he can categorically state that many senators are uncomfortable with it.
The political turmoil in Rivers State has sparked nationwide debate, with concerns over constitutional violations and executive overreach.
