The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday announced that three senatorial seats in the 10th Senate have become vacant following the deaths of their occupants.
The affected districts are Enugu North, Nasarawa North, and Rivers South-East Senatorial Districts.
Speaking during plenary, Akpabio said the vacancies arose from the passing of the lawmakers and emphasized that the move aligns with constitutional provisions. He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would conduct midterm elections to fill the seats.
He added that the declaration was made in accordance with the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
