Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was on Monday denied entry into the National Assembly complex, despite a Federal High Court ruling ordering her reinstatement to the Senate.
Her vehicle arrived at the National Assembly around 12:20 p.m. but was stopped by security operatives at the gate. Undeterred, Akpoti-Uduaghan, along with activists Aisha Yesufu, Randy Peters, and others, alighted from their vehicles and proceeded on foot toward the complex.
The Federal High Court had recently ruled in favour of the senator’s return to the Red Chamber and instructed her to issue a formal apology to the Senate.
However, resistance to her reinstatement persists, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, has maintained that there is no binding legal directive compelling her immediate recall.
