Scores have been injured following a cult clash at the Gambia axis of Diobu in Port Harcourt.

The incident which reportedly occurred yesterday night brought panic and the tension in the area, according to sources.

A resident of the area in a chat with us, said fight broke out between the rival cult groups known as ‘Degbam’ and ‘Iceland’ after members of the former inflicted matchet wounds on a member of the latter on Sunday.

According to him, members of the Degbam group reinforced and attacked their rivals on Monday night, leaving some of them and residents of the area injured.

He said the fight was intense as shots were fired, adding that residents scampered for safety.

The cult groups have been having a running battle to control crime in the area for weeks now.
