The People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State has called for the removal of Tony Okocha as representative of the state in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Publicity Secretary of the party, Sydney Gbara made the call in a statement following the announcement of Okocha to build street lights on the tomb of late environmental activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa.
Gbara, who described the statement by Okocha as an embarassment and insult to the Ogonis, noted that he lacks the capacity to represent the state in the NDDC.
According to him, Okocha should be talking about projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people, adding that this has shown that he is not fit for the job.
Gbara, advised Okocha to go and build lights on the tomb of his own kingsmen as that is not what the Ogonis need.
He called on the President to with immediate effect replace Okocha with someone capable of representing Rivers state.
