The Rivers State Government has said that any water company or water service provider that has not been evaluated by the State Ministry of Water Resources, will not be allowed to operate in the state.
Hon. Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Tamunosisi Gogo-jaja disclosed this during the Ministry’s visit to ‘Lasien’ a water bottling company in Port Harcourt.
He noted that water sample was collected from the company, as it will be tested to see if it meets the required standard of the state government.
“Any Company or water service provider that does not give us access into their facility… their products will not be certified for consumption,” he said.
Gogo Jaja noted that the essence of the initiative is to ensure quality water production in the state, ahead of the World Water Day.
The World Water Day is celebrated every March 22.
