The Rivers State Government has issued guidelines for marriages during the Covid-19 pandemic in the state.
The guideline stipulates that prospective couples are to apply to the State Governor through the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paulinus Nsirim made this known after the State Executive Council meeting at Government House Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Nsirim said the application must be accompanied with information on the venue of the ceremony, names, addresses and phones numbers of attendees to make contact tracing easy if the need arises. Application without names will not be approved, he asserted.
He furthermore noted that church weddings are to hold between 9am and 12noon, while traditional marriages would be conducted between 4pm and 7pm, with not more than 50 persons. Wedding receptions are prohibited as defaulters are liable to a fine of N10 million, Nsirim noted.
This is coming after the government approved guidelines for burials.
