The Rivers State Government has condemned attack on firefighters who tried to quench fire at a fuel station at the Iwofe axis of Port Harcourt yesterday.
The State commissioner for Special Duties, Bariere Thomas who made this known in a chat with journalists said it is worrisome that firemen are attacked whenever they go out to carryout their functions.
He explained that the late arrival of firefighters is due to protocols they observe before embarking on tasks. He also said it takes about ten to twenty minutes for firemen to be prepared for tasks.
He, therefore, called on youths who engage in such illegality to desist from such acts.
