The Rivers State Government has called on residents of the state to improve on their personal hygiene amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The State Commissioner of Water Resources and Rural Development, Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja disclosed this in Port Harcourt to mark the handwashing day.
He said the state government in collaboration with international donor agencies has installed handwashing machines in strategic places in the state for residents to always wash their hands.
He called on schools, churches, banks and other public and private institutions in the state to make and see handwashing as part of their daily activities.
Gogo-Jaja said it has come to their notice that many residents do not make use of the facilities while urging them to do so to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
