Port Harcourt – The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok Ete Ekwe Ibas, has announced that a new 2025 budget is being drafted to address key development priorities, including healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Speaking during a meeting with the Rivers State National Assembly Caucus at Government House, Port Harcourt, Ibas emphasized that the proposed budget would also focus on job creation and technological advancement to enhance public services.
The delegation, led by Senator Barinada Mpigi (Rivers South-East), included Senator Allwell Onyesoh, House of Representatives Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, and other lawmakers. Ibas underscored the importance of legislative support in securing resources and ensuring the budget’s swift implementation.
“Since the Supreme Court verdict on the state’s budget, we have acted swiftly to put together a new budget that reflects our commitment to healthcare, education, social services, and infrastructure. Our goal is to ensure we do not lose more time in making necessary investments to improve citizens’ lives,” he said.
The administrator reaffirmed his commitment to restoring law and order in the state, noting that security measures and community engagement efforts have fostered a safer environment for residents. He also highlighted his administration’s focus on reconciliation and dialogue following the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.
“Our approach has prioritized peace-building, inclusivity, and economic stability. The resilience and patience of Rivers people have been crucial in this journey,” Ibas added.
Senator Mpigi, speaking on behalf of the delegation, commended the administrator’s efforts and pledged legislative support to facilitate the state’s development.
