Rumuekpe Youths in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State have accused multinationals operating in the community of being responsible for the explosion that led to the death of over 12 persons on Friday.
Elites Maxwell, President of Rumuekpe in a statement shortly after the incident said artisanal refining increased in the area due to failure of the companies to act after several petitions written to them.
He also accused security agencies of conniving with perpetrators of the illegal act.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor, Nyesom Wike and other relevant agencies to come to their aide.
