The leadership of Resident Doctors at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital has directed its members to resume work Today Monday 22, 2020 following the suspension of its strike action.
Dr. Sokolo Josephine, President of the Association who stated this in a chat with journalists yesterday, said the association held an emergency meeting with its members and decided not to continue the strike. This is primarily because they were satisfied with the response of the state government.
The association had earlier held a meeting with the state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Princewill Chike and other officials of the state government who assured them of the government’s commitment in meeting up their demands, she noted. Dr. Josephine stated that they had earlier received a directive to proceed with the industrial action.
The national association of the body had ordered its members to embark on the indefinite strike action which was suspended yesterday, after a meeting with representatives of the federal government and other stakeholders.
