The Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University has Today informed journalists that the school is now set to award Bachelor degrees in Medicine and Surgery.
This follows recent accreditation granted the college of Medical Sciences of the school by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
Prof Okogbule said the Council of Medical and Dental Sciences has also increased the admission quota of the medical college from 50 to 100, adding that all courses in the university has also gained accreditation by the National Universities Commission.
Speaking on the recent killing of a final year student of Engineering, Ozondu Derrick by a former year three student of the department of Banking and Finance, Wisdom Wiyaara, Prof Nlerum said the school has taken steps to ensure such incident no longer take place .
