The Rivers State University (RSU) has graduated a total of 13,242 students at its 37th and 38th combined convocation ceremony held on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
The graduating class includes 10,648 first-degree holders and 2,594 postgraduate awardees, while 157 students earned First Class honours. The ceremony drew thousands of families, friends, and supporters who gathered to celebrate the academic achievements of the graduands.
Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who attended the event, congratulated the students and commended their resilience, discipline, and dedication. He also praised their families, guardians, and the university’s leadership for their sacrifices and unwavering support.
The governor urged the new graduates to embrace emerging opportunities in Rivers State’s expanding economic landscape and to approach life with a problem-solving mindset. He encouraged them to explore entrepreneurship, noting that the state holds vast potential across multiple sectors.
“As you journey onward, let hard work, integrity, and honesty guide you,” he said, advising the graduands to honour those who supported their education and to contribute positively to society.
