Civil Society Groups in Rivers State have accused the Rivers State University of shielding Dr. Samuel Egbuchu accused of physical assault by his wife, from prosecution by the police.
The groups, disclosed this in a joint statement over the weekend.
They threatened to barricade the entrance of the school, if the management fails to handover the accused to the Police.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson of the institution, Dr. Hacourt Whyte has denied claims that the school is shielding the accused from prosecution.
He said the institution does not support abuse in whatever form no matter who is involved.
Dr. Whyte said the matter on ground is a family matter, as he urged civil groups not to drag the institution into it and allow the Police do their job.
Dr. Egbuchu was over the weekend accused by his wife of inflicting injuries on her, while throwing her out of her matrimonial home.
