The Rivers State Police Command has assured the general public that the force is doing everything within its powers to end all forms of human rights abuses in the state.
Spokesperson of the state Police command, SP. Nnamdi Omoni disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday.
He said the CP, Joseph Mukan is committed to ensuring that human rights abuses becomes a thing of the past as it is doing more harm than good to the image of the Police.
Omoni stated that the CP has warned all Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments to closely monitor the activities of their officers to ensure they are doing the right thing at all times.
He also said those who fail in their primary duties would be dealt with, as the force has zero tolerance for any form of incompetence.
He further stated said officers have been warned against using their firearms when they ought not to, as those who kill unjustly would equally be killed.
