The Rivers State Police Command says it has initiated an investigation into the fight at Eliozu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state during a healthcare programme on Thursday.
Police spokesperson, Grace Koko in a statement said a distress call was received from the health center in Eliozu community today, where supporters of two separate political factions were engaged in a fight.
She said the Police responded by sending operatives to the scene to restore law and order, and also deployed anti-riot tactics, including the use of canisters, to disperse the crowds.
Recall that the CTC Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo had in a statement accused Hon. Martin Amaewhule of sending thugs to disrupt a healthcare programme by the state government.
Ihunwo shared clips of those injured during the attack and called on the Police to call Amaewhule to order.
