The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a yet-to-be identified man by a member of a local vigilante group at GSM village, Garrison in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday who made this known in a statement on Monday, also ordered for the arrest of the culprit.
Sources say the deceased was shot by a vigilante member after one of the leaders in the community invited them to prevent him from entering the market.
They said when the vigilante members arrived and tried to stop the man as directed, they had a fight which resulted to one of them pulling the trigger on him.
The CP, in his statement called on residents of the area to remain calm, adding that perpetrators of the heinous crime would be brought to book.
