The Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed the killing of its officers at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, on Saturday.
Spokesperson of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni who said this in a statement on Sunday, failed to mention the number of casualties.
He said Police checkpoints along the Port Harcourt/Owerri Road, were attacked by unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
Omoni said the state Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday has ordered an investigation into the incident to bring the perpetrators to book.
He said the Command will not be deterred by the incident, as it is committed to ensuring the protection of lives and properties of Rivers people.
