The Rivers State Police Command, says it has arrested an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, who allegedly shot dead a commercial bus driver in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.
The State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, disclosed this in a chat with Journalists in Port Harcourt, on Thursday.
Eboka, who described the shooting as “extreme” said the matter is currently being Investigated as the suspect is being detained at the State Criminal and Investigation Department.
The CP, also explained that eyewitnesses have been summoned for a meeting, adding that they will get to the root of the matter.
“I want to assure everybody that the person who fired and killed somebody will not go unpunished,” he said.
“No matter the provocation, you must try and control yourself when you are bearing arms. We want to assure you that the civil defence man is already in the cell at the state CID cooling off,” he added.
