The Rivers State Police command says it has started redeploying officers of the scrapped Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), in line with the order of the Inspection General of Police.
Spokesperson of the state Police command disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Port Harcourt today.
Omoni said the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Muka, has ordered that all facilities and structures bearing the inscription of SARS be removed across the state.
He said any officer caught in SARS uniform or carrying anything that has to do with the disbanded group will face the full weight of the law.
Nnamdi Omoni furthermore, called on Rivers residents to report any officer of the command caught not wearing the official uniform of the command to the relevant authorities.
